This project examines ways in which the COVID-19 pandemic amplifies the socio-cultural stressors and health disparities experienced by Mexican-origin, low-income adolescents who are making the transition to young adulthood.

This project collects new data specific to the Fragile Families and Child Wellbeing Birth Cohort Study (FFCWS) young adults’ health, wellbeing, and environments in the context of the pandemic.

Among rural Black men, we hypothesize that alcohol use may accelerate the spread of SARS CoV-2 settings and interactions in which they may be likely to become infected or to infect others.

This administrative supplement continues a high-frequency longitudinal survey of Americans’ experiences and behavior during the COVID-19 pandemic to measure perceptions of coronavirus risk, individual prevention behaviors, consumption of coronavirus information from various sources, effects on households' financial situations and physical and mental health, and coping behavior of households.

The team is expanding assessments to include the impact of COVID-19 and the earthquakes’ secondary hazards (social isolation, unemployment, healthcare services disruption, structural damage) on stress biomarkers and changes in multilevel determinants of health.

The National Social Life, Health and Aging Project (NSHAP) is a longitudinal study of U.S. older adults focusing on the effects of social factors on trajectories of physical and mental health.

This project supplements an ongoing program project on “Improving Health Outcomes for an Aging Population” by analyzing the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and its associated economic downturn on population health and mortality.

There is an urgent need to longitudinally study the impact of the pandemic on pregnant women and the care they receive, and to understand the consequences for their children’s birth outcomes and neurobehavioral development.

This administrative supplement will examine the effects of the COVID-19 outbreak and related local public health mandates in a population of women heavily affected by health disparities.
